Mari Sundbo joined the Bison staff as an assistant coach in August 2016. Sundbo is involved with all aspects of the program, including recruiting.
A 2015 graduate of the University of Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree in recreation, park, and leisure studies with a minor in sport management, Sundbo was a three-year member of the Golden Gophers women’s rowing team. A three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, Sundbo was a team captain in 2014-15 and earned the Cheryl Wick Scholarship and Donna J. Olson Award that same season.
Sundbo spent this past winter training with Kevin Light, who was a member of the Canadian men’s rowing team at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
Starting in 2015, Sundbo was the novice boys head coach at Twin Cities Youth Rowing Club where her main duties were instructing and facilitating practices to prepare rowers for varsity and collegiate competition following high school.
Sundbo was also a training center coordinator at The Marsh Center for Balance and Fitness.
During her undergraduate days, Sundbo was a student-athlete development intern at Minnesota and was a supervisor at the school’s Bierman Athletic Building.
