BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Freshman Bridgette Holland had 15 kills with a .467 hitting percentage, but Bucknell fell 3-1 in its Patriot League volleyball match at Lehigh on Friday night. The Mountain Hawks stayed unbeaten in league play, winning with scores of 25-21, 25-21, 22-25, 25-21.
Bucknell dropped to 2-13 overall and 0-3 in the Patriot League, but all three losses came on the road and two of the three opponents have a combined 7-0 record in the conference. Lehigh improved to 8-9 overall and sits in first place in the league at 4-0.
Holland recorded her sixth double-digit kill total of the season. She had just one error on her 30 attacks, and recorded kills on her first five attempts. The .467 hitting percentage was her second highest of the season. The best was .567 with 19 kills against Buffalo.
Freshman Sophie Bullard and sophomore Blake Buchholz each recorded a double-double for the Bison. Bullard finished with 12 kills and 14 digs, while Buchholz posted 10 kills and 12 digs. Freshman Mimi Richards, who leads the Patriot League in blocks, had seven total, including three solo.
Jessica Donaldson was the go-to player for Lehigh, finishing with 18 kills on 46 attempts. Mariah Brantley had 17 digs.
Bucknell will play its first Patriot League home match of the season when it hosts Lafayette on Saturday. The match is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Davis Gym. Lafayette is 3-10 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
