BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Bucknell's title defense at the Lehigh Invitational got off to a good start, as the Bison opened with a 298 Friday and sit one shot back of the host Mountain Hawks with 18 holes remaining on Saturday. Freshman Peter Bradbeer fired a 1-under-par 71 and is tied for third in the individual standings.
Lehigh tallied a 297 behind 71 from Johnny Hsu, but it is a close race at the top. Bucknell and St. John's both shot 298, with Iona fourth at 299. Fordham posted a 302 and is in fifth place in the 12-team field.
Bradbeer's day was highlighted by an eagle at the par-5 15th hole. He also made four birdies to offset back-to-back double bogeys at holes 10 and 11. He is just one shot off the individual lead. Iona's Devin Delisle and Manhattan's Devin O'Rourke both shot 70.
J.P. Raftery, Bucknell's top player so far this fall, followed with a 74. He also eagled the 15th. Ashton Radvansky added a 76, Connor O'Brien 77 and Jubal Early 78. D.J. Magee added a 77 playing as an individual.
The tournament concludes Saturday morning at Saucon Valley Country Club.
