HAMILTON, N.Y. – Freshman Sophie Bullard and senior Jordan Walker posted double-doubles for Bucknell, but the Bison fell to Colgate 3-1 on the road in a Patriot League volleyball match Tuesday night at Cotterell Court. The Raiders, who have already clinched a spot in the Patriot League Tournament, improved to 15-9 overall and 11-2 in the conference with scores of 25-20, 25-23, 22-25, 25-21.
Bucknell dropped to 5-20 overall and 3-10 in the league, but managed to take at least one set from one of the top teams in the conference for the second time this season. The Bison fell to the Raiders 3-2 in their first matchup.
“Overall, we played a good match and we saw good improvement from our match against Lafayette,” said Bucknell head coach Anna Allison. “It was a very even match, and we fought well. Now it’s time to get ready for Loyola.”
Bullard led all players in both kills with 16 and digs with 22, recording her seventh double-double of the season and her second in the past three matches. Walker finished with 13 kills and 16 digs. She has two straight double-doubles and three on the season.
The Bison had 11 blocks in the match, including two solo and four block assists by freshman Mimi Richards. Freshman Bridgette Holland, the reigning Patriot League Rookie of the Week, had one solo block and four block assists.
Colgate won its eighth straight match behind 13 kills off the bench from Taylor Flaherty. Kathleen Harris, the Preseason Patriot League Player of the Year, finished with 10 kills and six digs.
Bucknell will play its final home match of the season when it hosts Loyola (Md.) on Friday at 7 p.m.
