LEWISBURG, Pa. – For the second time this season, Bucknell women’s track and field freshman Kaitlin Salisbury has been named M-F Athletic Patriot League Female Rookie of the Week, following an impressive outing at the Bucknell Tri-Meet.
Salisbury continues to have a strong indoor campaign in her rookie year, posting her third victory of the season in the triangular meet against Saint Francis (Pa.) and UMBC. The first-year athlete won the individual title in the long jump, recording an ECAC-qualifying leap of 18-10 ¾. Her mark leads the Patriot League and is tied for 38th-best in NCAA Division I.
Her performance at the meet is her third top-10 program mark in her young Bison career. In her collegiate debut at the Bison Open, she set the school record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.62, while posting a top-10 time in the 200m (25.64), both earning her first-place finishes.
Allison Sharkey was an honorable mention after winning the individual title in the 300m. She crossed the finish line in 41.66, which etched her name into the top-10 on Bucknell’s all-time list.
Bucknell returns to action Jan. 14 to compete in the Nittany Lion Challenge, one of two trips to Penn State during the indoor season.
