LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell broke a school relay record for the second consecutive day while continuing competition at the Patriot League Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships on Thursday at Kinney Natatorium. The record came in the 400 medley relay, which was one of just seven top-10 times set by the Bison on the second day of the meet.

Freshman Emma Hadley, junior Leah Bloodgood, junior Julianna Foss, and sophomore Abigail Rosenberg took third in the 400 medley relay, breaking the school record with a time of 3:43.66. Hadley led off with a 54.44 split in the 100 back, which puts her second on Bucknell’s all-time list, and Rosenberg anchored the relay with an impressive split of 49.92 in the 100 free.

Foss had the top individual swim for Bucknell, taking third in the 200 IM. She turned in the second-fastest time in program history, touching the wall in 2:02.24, missing the record by just one-tenth of a second. The Bison racked up points in the event with six swimmers qualifying for the night swim, including Julie Byrne, who took seventh. She finished the prelims in 2:04.46, which is the eighth-fastest time in school history. Sophomore Lindsay Smalec, senior Diana Hanson, senior Caroline Orem, and senior Rachel McGoff all scored points by finishing consecutively in 13th-16th. The Bison had the next best finisher, as well, as sophomore Brittany Bishop was just one spot away from qualifying for the “B” final.

Bucknell set two top-10 times in the 50 free. Rosenberg took 10th in 23.43, good enough for fifth on the school’s record book, while senior Rachel Perry was 13th. Her time of 23.52 in the prelims is the sixth-fastest time in program history.

Also recording a program top-10 time was freshman Abby Merriman while taking 11th in the 500 free. She finished in 4:55.31, the sixth-best time at Bucknell.

Navy leads the team standings with 299 points, while Boston University is second with 239, and Army West Point is third with 196. Lehigh (182) is one spot ahead of Bucknell (149), while Loyola (95) sits one spot behind.

Competition resumes Friday with the 400 IM prelims at 10 a.m.
