HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- Paced by a 5-over-par 77 from Katie Childers on Saturday, the Bucknell women's golf team is tied for 10th place in a 17-team field at the Low Country Intercollegiate, hosted by Wofford at Moss Creek GC.
Emily Larson followed with an 81, Anna Dailey with an 83, and Lindsay Dodovich with an 89 as the Bison compiled a 330 team score on the difficult course. Bucknell is tied for 10th with Presbyterian, one shot ahead of Appalachian State and one behind Patriot League rival Navy.
Dalton State opened with a 319 to grab the first-round lead, but High Point, Seton Hall, Quinnipiac, and USC Upstate are all tied for second, just one stroke back. Wofford (321), Bethune-Cookman (322), and Gardner-Webb (325) are also in front of the Bison.
Childers birdied holes 4 and 7, and she had a run of six straight pars on the back nine. Larson also made two birdies in her round and shot 2-over 38 on the back nine.
Celia Mansour of Presbyterian has the individual lead after opening with a 1-over 73. Childers sits in a five-way tie for fourth place with 18 holes still to come on Sunday.
