AKRON, Ohio – Bucknell's Tom Sleigh earned Freestyle All-America honors with a seventh-place finish at University Nationals, hosted by Akron University this past weekend. Bucknell and Buffalo Valley RTC were represented at the event by Sleigh, Seth Hogue, and Kyle Inlander.

Sleigh went 5-2 overall at 97kg, bolstered by wins in each of his first three matches. He opened with a pair of convincing victories, beating Utah Valley State's Tanner Orndorff 10-3 and Ohio University's Devin King 6-0.

In his third match of the day, Sleigh fell behind 5-2 midway through the final period against the University of Virginia's Jay Aiello before rallying with the final six points for an 8-5 win. He scored the go-ahead two-point takedown with 1:08 remaining.

Following a loss to the University of North Carolina's Daniel Chaid, Sleigh secured All-America honors with another come-from-behind victory. He trailed Grand View's Johnathen Dennis 5-2 before scoring the final four points in a 6-5 win.

A loss to Simon Fraser's Morgan Smith sent Sleigh to the seventh-place match, where he again matched up against Aiello. The Bison wrestler jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead this time and then hung on for a 6-4 win.

Sleigh is coming off a junior season that saw him qualify for his third NCAA Championships. He will enter his senior season with a collegiate record of 89-35.
