Tyler Packanik
Volunteer Assistant Coach

Tyler Packanik joins head coach Scott Heather’s staff in 2017-18 as a volunteer assistant coach. Packanik joins the Bison following stints with the Edenton Steamers of the Coastal Plain Summer League and Ohio University.

Over the summer with the Steamers, Packanik worked with players on an individual basis to develop their swing and defensive skills. He was assigned the task of aligning infielders and outfielders on game day according to scouting reports, along with conducting batting practice and infield hitting during pregame.

During his time at Ohio University, Packanik helped the Bobcats win the MAC Tournament in 2017. He worked closely with the head coach and assistants on developing game plans for outfielders while working with outfielders during practices. Packanik coached outfielder Spencer Ibarra, who earned ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Second Team recognition in 2017. Packanik also built in-game evaluations to produce scouting reports along with assisting in the evaluation of recruit videos.

Packanik previously served as the 17U head coach of Dirtbags Baseball in 2016 and was an assistant on the 15U squad in 2014. He also spent time with the Cleveland Indians as a Camp Instructor, helping develop a curriculum to best teach youth players.

Packanik was a standout player at Marietta College, guiding the Pioneers to four NCAA regional appearances while capturing two OAC Tournament titles and two regular-season championships. In 2015, Packanik landed a spot on the OAC All-Tournament Team.

Packanik graduated from Marietta College in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in marketing. He earned a master’s degree in coaching education from Ohio University in 2017.
