Casey Gonzalez joins the Bucknell sports medicine staff in 2017-18 as an assistant athletic trainer. She comes to Bucknell from Sonoma State University, where she has been working with the women’s soccer, men’s basketball, baseball and volleyball teams since 2013.
Gonzalez earned her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from California State University at Fullerton in 2009. She went on to receive her master’s in athletic training from Shenandoah University in 2012, where she received the Most Outstanding Graduate Award.
This will not be the first stint at Bucknell for Gonzalez, as she served as a graduate athletic trainer in 2011-12, working with the Bison women’s soccer and men’s lacrosse teams.
The following year, Gonzalez interned at the U.S. Naval Academy, where she worked with the football and wrestling teams.
In 2013-14, she moved on to Sonoma State. In her first year, she served as the head ATC for Sonoma State’s MCLA Division I club men’s lacrosse team, while also working with the Seawolves’ NCAA Division II intercollegiate programs.
Gonzalez has also worked as an athletic trainer at the 2012 Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl, the 2010 Poinsettia Bowl, and famous Mt. San Antonio College Relays track and field meet.
