LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell senior Christine Bendzinski and freshman Tiara Tardy were honored Wednesday as the Patriot League released its first weekly awards of the season. Bendzinski was named the M-F Female Runner of the Week, while Tardy was tabbed as the M-F Female Rookie of the Week.

Bendzinski and Tardy finished first and second to help Bucknell win the title at the five-team Bison Open on Friday evening. The Bison easily won the event with a clean sweep by taking the top seven spots.

Bendzinski turned in a dominant performance, winning by eight seconds with a time of 14:22 on the 4k course. It is the second Patriot League Runner of the Week honor of her career. The senior has actually won two in a row as she received the accolade following the final week of the regular season in 2016.

Tardy was impressive in her collegiate debut, finishing as the runner-up with a time of 14:30. She led a group of three Bucknell freshmen that finished in the top 10.

The Bison return to action when they travel to Penn State for the Spiked Shoe Invitational on Friday.
