Vanessa Budd, who recently wrapped up a decorated playing career at Franklin & Marshall, joined the Bucknell women's lacrosse program as an assistant coach in September 2017.
A three-time First Team All-American, Budd led the Diplomats to NCAA Division III Final Four appearances in 2015 and 2016.
As a senior in 2017, Budd became the first Diplomat to be recognized as the IWLCA DIII Defender of the Year and the Inside Lacrosse DIII Defender of the Year. That season, she was also a nominee for the DIII Honda Woman Athlete of the Year, a member of the Tewaaraton Watch List and Franklin & Marshall's Karvasales Outstanding Senior Athlete Award recipient.
One of five Diplomats to receive All-America accolades three times, Budd was a three-time All-Metro Region First Team honoree, a two-time Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Year and a three-time All-CC First Team selection.
During her time in college, Budd built up coaching experience as part of the CT Grizzlies program. She served as head coach of the 2023 girl's team (summers of 2017 and 2016) and an assistant coach for the 2017 girl's team (summer of 2015). She also served as an Under Armour Lacrosse tryout evaluator in the summer of 2016.
A native of Darien, Conn., Budd graduated from Franklin & Marshall in 2017 with a B.A. in Government and English. She also studied abroad at the University of Westminster in London.
At Darien High School, Budd played varsity soccer for four years and varsity lacrosse for three. In 2013, she was honored on the All-State First Team and the All-FCIAC First Team in lacrosse. She was a 2012 All-FCIAC Second Team selection in soccer.
