EMMITSBURG, Md. – Senior Max Kane and two Bucknell doubles teams advanced to the semifinals as the Bison men’s tennis team opened play at the Mount Invitational on Friday. The event was originally scheduled for three days, but has been rescheduled to finish on Saturday due to rain in the forecast for Sunday.

Kane opened the tournament with an easy 6-0, 6-1 win over Loyola’s Brian Hoffarth in the quarterfinal round of Flight A singles. He will play Mount St. Mary’s freshman Jackson Wood in the semifinals. The senior enters the match with a 5-3 record this fall.

Kane also won his quarterfinal match in Flight A doubles, teaming with senior Ben Gerber for a 6-2 victory over Blest Jones and Matt Fitzmaurice. They will play The Mount’s Jean Armstrong and Parth Sharma in the semifinals.

In Flight B doubles, freshmen Drew Krantz and Adrien Crastes edged The Mount’s Sean McNulty and Chris Lindsey 6-4 in a quarterfinal match. They will play Coppin State’s Jorge Rodriguez Rey and Gavin Lewis in the semifinal round.

Both Bucknell doubles teams were playing together for the first time this season.
