REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. -- The Bucknell women's golf team got going at the Delaware Lady Blue Hen Invitational on Saturday, posting rounds of 317 and 320 at Rehoboth Beach Country Club. Freshman Casey Morrow led the way in the opening round with a career-best, 2-over-par 74, and senior Lindsay Dodovich carried the load in the afternoon with 1-over 73. Bucknell sits in ninth place with another round to play on Sunday.
Penn State and Harvard are tied for the team lead at an even 600 strokes through 36 holes. James Madison is third at 607, with Delaware (608) and Penn (616) rounding out the top five.
Morrow was locked in during her morning round. She started on the 12th hole and made five straight pars right out of the gates. She later birdied holes 5 and 7 and was even on her round through 14 holes before giving two shots back down the stretch. Still she finished with 12 pars and the two birdies. Morrow came back in the afternoon and posted an 84 to slip from a tie for fifth place into a tie for 30th.
Dodovich's day trended in the opposite direction. After opening with an 81, she fired the 73 on the back end of a busy day. She started the second round on the 10th hole and had a brilliant start. She birdied holes 11, 12, 13 and 16 to go with five pars en route to a 4-under 32 on her outward nine. A double-bogey at the second hole was her first blemish, and Dodovich would end up at 1-over for the round. That moved her up 22 spots into a tie for 14th place at 154.
Belinda Hu of Harvard is the individual leader at 1-under 143. Alix Lowe of Towson and Ashley Dingman of Delaware are three shots back.
The final round gets underway Sunday at 9 a.m.
