LEWISBURG, Pa. – Senior Christine Bendzinski was named the Bison Athlete of the Week on Monday after leading Bucknell to a third straight title at the Patriot League Championships on Saturday. Bendzinski won the individual league title for a second straight year and earned her third First Team All-Patriot League honor.

Bendzinski finished Lehigh’s 6k course in 20:52 to become the third runner in program history to win multiple league titles. She edged runner-up Abby Holbrook (Army West Point) by a little more than two seconds to get the win.

Bendzinski became the seventh runner in Bucknell history to earn three All-Patriot League accolades in cross country and the first since Stephanie Fulmer in 2011. Other repeat champions were Julie Sweitzer in 1997-98, and Becki Marshall, who won three straight PL titles from 1990-2001.

Bucknell easily won the team title with 58 points, finishing 21 points better than runner-up Army West Point. Junior Colleen Buckley also earned First Team All-Patriot League status with a third-place finish, while junior Jenna Farmer took 13th and made the Second Team.

The Bison will head back to Lehigh for the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional on Friday, Nov. 10.
