LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell senior Christine Bendzinski will make her first appearance at the NCAA Championships this Saturday after qualifying for the meet with a fourth-place finish at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships. The national meet is scheduled for a 9 a.m. start at Louisville’s E.P. ‘Tom’ Sawyer State Park.
Bendzinski gives the Bison a runner at the NCAA Championships for a second consecutive season. Her former teammate, Kate Scott, competed last year.
Bendzinski is the 12th Bucknell runner to compete at the national meet. The Bison team qualified in 1999, while individual runners qualified in 1997, 2001, 2006, and 2016. Theresa Dennis has the best finish in program history, taking 73rd in 2001.
The top 40 runners in Saturday’s race will earn All-America honors. Bendzinski, a two-time Patriot League champion and three-time All-Patriot League runner, will attempt to become Bucknell’s first runner to earn the national honor.
Live coverage of the meet will be provided by FloTrack, a subscription based streaming site.
