LEWISBURG, Pa. -- For the second year in a row, more than 30 Bucknell student-athletes traveled to The Graham Company Building in Philadelphia for a Bucknell Athletics Leadership Institute career networking event. Trustee emeritus Bill Graham '62 once again hosted and sponsored the event at his company's headquarters. Bucknell Athletics Hall-of-Famers Clifford "Mickey" Melberger '61 (football) and Scott Schulte '81 (water polo) were among the 29 alumni participants who consulted with the current Bison student-athletes.

The networking event featured four rounds of "speed interviewing," where student-athletes had the opportunity to practice answering commonly asked interview questions with alums. The second half of the evening consisted of networking opportunities for current student athletes to learn from our successful student-athlete alumni about the ins and outs of life after college, various career paths, and how sports has helped them long after their days in college are behind them.

"The best memory for me was bonding with Scott Allen, who also played on the tennis team at Bucknell," said junior Mishi Papich of the women's tennis team. "Seeing how successful these Bucknell student-athletes are gave me the glimmer of hope and the ambition I needed to stay positive as I try to decide what my next step in life will be. I would recommend this event to every athlete who is graciously allotted the opportunity, and I would not miss this chance to build connections."

"This was an amazing opportunity to gain insight from a wide range of alumni, not only on their student-athlete experiences at Bucknell but also life after college and how they ended up where they are today," said Mike Caruso, a sophomore cornerback on the Bucknell football team. "Events like this show what the Bucknell culture is all about and how strong our networking system is."
