LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell's Chadd Cummings, Charlie McFarland and Maggie Wyngowski will compete at the USA Swimming Winter National Championships. The prestigious event will be held Wednesday, Nov. 29 through Saturday, Dec. 2. at Ohio State's McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion in Columbus, Ohio.
To participate in the USA Swimming Winter Nationals, swimmers had to meet stringent time standards. Over 400 student-athletes from 20 universities and multiple club teams are set to vie for titles in 18 different events over the course of the four-day period.
Cummings holds the Bison record in the 100 breaststroke (54.65) and ranks second in school history in the 200 breaststroke (2:00.19). He recorded both of those times at the 2017 Patriot League Championships.
McFarland stands fifth in the Bucknell annals in the 50 freestyle (20.47) and is also slotted in the school's top 10 in three other individual events.
Wyngowski has enjoyed a memorable freshman campaign thus far. Through her first five meets, she has already etched her name into the Bison record book in four events: the 200 breaststroke (3rd, 2:17.74), 400 IM (7th, 4:24.98), 200 IM (8th, 2:04.30) and 100 breaststroke (10th, 1:05.18).
The full team returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 13 by taking on Army West Point and Boston College in West Point, N.Y. The next day, Bucknell is slated to host the James Madison women and Columbia men at 1 p.m.
