Lewisburg, Pa.- Shippensburg sophomore David Brantley swept three of the first four events Friday night to hold the lead in the heptathlon following the first day of competition at the season-opening Bison Opener at Gerhard Fieldhouse.

Brantley accumulated 2,692 points with three events left. Bison freshman Tyler Wukitsevits is second with 2,508 points, while Shippensburg Colin Mondi is third with 2,222 points. Bucknell freshman Ethan Dunne sits in fourth with 2,137 points.

Brantley had the top marks in the 60-meter (7.30), long jump (6.54m), shot put (10.55m), and the high jump (1.87m). Wukitsevits, a freshman from Rockville Centre, N.Y. was a runner-up in the 60-meter (7.32), long jump (6.23m), shot put (9.62m), and the high jump (1.81m).

Action resumes with the completion of the men’s heptathlon at 8:30 a.m. The field events will begin at 11 a.m., and the running events will get underway at 1 p.m.
