ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Bucknell men's swimming & diving team competed at the Navy Invite, its final meet before the Patriot League Championships, on Saturday at Lejeune Hall.

A trio of Bison swam to third-place finishes at the invitational, which was attended by American, Georgetown, Lafayette, Navy and Shippensburg.

Mitch Gavars placed third in a field of 29 in the 200 freestyle. He and Matt Rakovec, who touched the wall sixth, were two of only six swimmers to finish faster than 1:46.00.

In the 200 butterfly, Michael Park took third with a career-best time of 1:55.55. Sam Rutan rounded out Bucknell's trio of third-place finishers, earning that place in the 200 backstroke.

No team scores were kept at the Navy Invite.

The Bison next return to Annapolis for the Patriot League Championships. The event will be held Wednesday, Feb. 14 through Saturday, Feb. 17.
