ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Bucknell women's swimming & diving team excelled at the Navy Invite, its final meet before the Patriot League Championships, on Saturday at Lejeune Hall.

Ten Bison combined to earn 12 top-three finishes at the invitational, which was attended by American, Georgetown, Lafayette, Navy and Shippensburg.

Leading the way were Brooke Collins (400 IM) and Lindsay Smalec (100 freestyle), who won their respective events. Smalec beat out 38 other swimmers to capture her title while Collins's victory was her first of the 2017-18 campaign.

Caroline Edelman and Emily Gorham each swam to two top-three finishes. In a field of 46 in the 50 freestyle, they finished second and third respectively. In addition, Gorham touched the wall .24 of a second behind Smalec in the 100 freestyle while Edelman was third in the 200 butterfly.

Steph Boyd (400 IM), Emma Hadley (100 butterfly) and Mary Weinstein (100 breaststroke) each finished second. Hadley beat out 40 other swimmers while Weinstein outraced 27.

Abby Merriman (1,650 freestyle), Libby O'Hare (200 breaststroke) and Maggie Wyngowski (500 freestyle) were Bucknell's additional third-place finishers. 

No team scores were kept at the Navy Invite.

The Bison next return to Annapolis for the Patriot League Championships. The event will be held Wednesday, Feb. 14 through Saturday, Feb. 17.
