Lewisburg, Pa. - As Bucknell prepares for this weekend’s Scarlet and White Invitational, it was announced on Tuesday that senior Christine Bendzinski has been named M-F Athletic Patriot League Female Track Athlete of the Week, while freshman Tiara Tardy has been selected M-F Athletic Patriot League Female Rookie of the Week.

Bendzinski put on quite a show in the mile, an event she has had success in throughout her career. The senior placed fifth in the mile and broke a school record with a time of 4:44.55. She shattered her previous mark of 4:45.36 that was set last year and she currently holds the 28th-fastest time in all of Division I.

Tardy competed at both the Penn State National Invitational and Bison Open & Multi. On Friday, she ran the third leg of the distance medley relay that finished in first place with an ECAC-qualifying standard of 12:08.17. Tardy ran in the 1,000-meter race on Saturday at the Penn State National Invitational and placed second while earning another ECAC-qualifying standard after clocking in at 2:51.31.  She currently holds the fastest time in the PL in the 1,000m and the ninth-fastest time in the 800m.

The Bison are preparing to travel to Boston, Massachusetts for the Scarlet and White Invitational, which is set for Friday and Saturday.
