LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women’s water polo team used a 9-0 run over the game’s final 19:45 to cap a 4-0 Bison Invitational with an 11-4 victory over Siena Sunday at Kinney Natatorium. Emily Konishi, who had four goals and four assists earlier in the day against George Washington, tallied two goals and dished out four assists to help the Bison improve to 6-2 on the year.

Bucknell’s four-game winning streak is its longest since early in the 2016 campaign. The Bison outscored their four opponents this weekend by a 52-29 margin.

Bucknell trailed 4-2 midway through the second quarter in this one when Siena’s (0-3) Sophia Torres netted her second goal of the game. However, that was the last goal for the Saints as the Bison scored the game’s final nine goals. Freshmen Nina Benson and Kali Hyham equaled Konishi for team-high honors with two goals apiece.

Siena, which had only two reserves on its bench, had one player foul out in the first half and three others finished the game with two ejections. Overall, the Saints finished the game with 11 ejections whistled against them. Bucknell converted three six-on-five opportunities and one five-meter penalty shot. Shyla Lintz led the way with five ejections drawn.

The top scoring quarter of the game for the Bison was the third period. After outscoring George Washington 6-0 in the third quarter earlier in the day, Bucknell outscored Siena 5-0 in the same stanza.

Bucknell will return to action next weekend at the Princeton Invitational. The Bison will square off against Marist and Wagner as well as the Chinese National Team in an exhibition.
