WILMINGTON, Del. – Bucknell won the top three spots in singles, but came up just short in a 4-3 loss to Delaware at the DuPont Country Club on Sunday.

After the doubles point was decided, the Bison quickly tied the match thanks to a win by Max Kane on court two The senior picked up his second victory of the spring with 6-4, 6-3 scores.

Trailing 3-1, the Bison recorded back-to-back wins to tie the match. Junior Max McDonald got the ball rolling with a three-set victory, 6-3, 1-6, 6-3, on court three. Daniel Wright, who has faced a brutal schedule as the team’s top player, followed with his first win of the spring, 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) on court one.

The team result came down courts five and six, where Delaware won a pair of three-set matches.

Delaware improved to 7-2 with a fifth consecutive win, while Bucknell dropped to 1-8 on the season.

"Delaware is much improved, and we have been shorthanded for the last five matches," Bucknell head coach Bruce Myers said. "No excuses, though. The team is not playing to its potential right now. We must get ready for a big weekend of upcoming matches."

The Bison will play Siena, Colgate, Saint Joseph’s, and Drexel in a three-day span from March 2-4.
