LEWISBURG, Pa. – Junior Kaitlyn Slagus has been named the Bison Athlete of the Week after leading the Bucknell women’s basketball team to wins over American and Navy last week. The Eagles ranked first and second in the Patriot League standings at the time of the games.
Bucknell handed American its first league loss of the season, 57-52, behind 12 points and a career-high 17 rebounds by Slagus. It was her fourth consecutive double-double and the 23rd of her career. The win clinched the second seed in the Patriot League Tournament for the Bison.
Just days before the win over American, Bucknell broke a second-place tie with Navy with a 49-40 win on the road. Slagus tallied 12 points and 13 rebounds in that win.
The Bison improved to 20-9 overall, their third straight 20-win season, and have won 10 consecutive games.
Bucknell closes the regular season at Army West Point on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The Bison will host their quarterfinal round game of the league tournament on Monday, March 5, at 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased ONLINE, in person at either Campus Box Office location (Weis Center, Elaine Langone Center), or over the phone at 570-577-1000.
