ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Bucknell women's water polo team dropped a pair of games on Sunday at the Wolverine Invitational, held at Canham Natatorium.

The Bison fell to No. 9 Michigan, 14-5, and No. 19 CSU Northridge, 10-6, on the invitational's final day. They ultimately went 1-3 over the course of the two-day tournament, with their victory coming over Iona.

The host Wolverines limited the Bison to five goals, tied for their lowest total of the 2018 campaign. In that game, Nina Benson (2g) and Colleen Barron (1g-1a) enjoyed multi-point outings. Emily Konishi's win streak in sprints was snapped at 21.

Against the Matadors, the fourth quarter proved to be the difference in the game. Bucknell hung with CSU Northridge up until that point; the teams were locked in a 5-5 tie entering the final frame. After Benson took a feed from Shyla Lintz and found the back of the net to give the Bison a 6-5 lead with 7:19 on the clock, the Matadors closed out the game on a 5-0 run to emerge victorious.

Barron (2g), Benson (2g) and Konishi (2a) paced the Bucknell attack while Marcela Herrera made eight saves.

The Bison next attend the Aztec Invitational on March 10-11.
