Shannon Haviland joined the Bison Athletics staff in 2018 as NCAA compliance and student services coordinator. Haviland works closely with associate AD for compliance and student services Dan Isaf in managing Bucknell's compliance and rules education program for coaches, student-athletes, departmental staff, boosters and university offices. The office coordinates and monitors the certification of student-athletes’ eligibility and financial aid, and they also oversee the area of student-athlete services.
Haviland came to Bucknell from Temple University, where she served as an athletic compliance intern. Among her duties was to develop a comprehensive guide informing student-athletes of NCAA regulations concerning extra benefits, gambling, academic fraud, and sport agent contract risks. While at Temple, Haviland also worked as a student-athlete academic monitor and as an assistant equipment manager.
In 2016, Haviland interned at Villanova in the area of athletics business and student services.
Haviland received both her bachelor of arts (sport and recreation management) and master's (higher education) degrees from Temple. She is a member of Women Leaders in College Sports, the Bethesda Project and the National Association for Athletic Compliance (NAAC).
