LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell field hockey team continued to be one of the best academic programs in the Patriot League as it recently received multiple honors from the NFHCA. The Bison were the recipients of the National Academic Team Award, had four players named Scholars of Distinction, and had 15 players earn a spot on the National Academic Squad.
Leading the way for the Bison were the four Scholars of Distinction – junior Claire Lesher (International Relations/Spanish), freshman Kaelyn Long (Early Childhood Education), sophomore Marisa Morakis (Biomedical Engineering), and junior Nicole Rupnik (Biology). To be eligible for the honor, a student-athlete had to post at least a 3.9 cumulative GPA through the fall semester.
Rupnik and Morakis, who both earned the Scholar of Distinction honor for a second time, each posted a perfect 4.0 GPA during the fall.
To qualify for the National Academic Team Award, the Bison had to record at least a 3.0 team GPA. They easily accomplished that with a 3.51 GPA during the fall.
