LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell softball picked up numerous awards Monday after a great showing last week that included a series win over Lehigh for the first time since 1998. Meghan Kovac was named the Patriot League Player of the Week in addition to the Bison Athlete of the Week, while Raeanne Geffert was named the Pitcher of the Week.

Kovac hit .529 (9-for-17) while leading Bucknell to a 3-1-1 record in a doubleheader against Mount St. Mary’s and a three-game series win over Lehigh. The senior combined for 10 RBIs, eight runs scored, three doubles and three home runs. Kovac ended the week with a 1.235 slugging percentage and a .600 on-base percentage.

In a 12-8 win over Mount St. Mary’s, Kovac was a perfect 5-for-5 with three doubles, a home run, and six RBIs, tying the school record for doubles and RBIs in a game. She closed the week by hitting a home run in both games of a doubleheader sweep over Lehigh.

Geffert went 22 innings in the circle with 16 strikeouts in four appearances this past week. The sophomore gave up three earned runs and walked just two batters. She recorded the victory in both wins over Lehigh.

Bucknell is in second place in the Patriot League standings at 20-19-1 overall and 9-3 in the conference. The Bison will play a three-game series at Colgate on Saturday and Sunday.
