BALTIMORE – Bucknell men’s tennis closed the regular season on a high note with a 6-1 win over Loyola on Sunday at the McClure Tennis Center. The Bison lost the doubles point but went on to win all six singles matches.

Max Kane highlighted Bucknell’s singles victories on the day, defeating senior Blest Jones in three sets on court two. Jones was an All-Patriot League selection a year ago and is Loyola’s all-time leader in career singles wins.

Also winning in singles in their final regular season match for the Bison were seniors Daniel Wright and Ben Gerber. Wright beat Brian Hoffarth 6-0, 6-3 on court one, while Gerber bested Charlie Shanker 6-2, 6-3 on court five.

Wright’s singles win was the 70th of his career, moving him into a tie with Evan Zimmer (2009-13) for fourth on the program’s all-time list.

Max McDonald bounced back from a 6-1 loss in set one to take the next two sets 6-0 and 6-2 in a victory on court three. Adding straight-sets wins were Colin Sacco (court four) and Adrien Crastes (court six).

"We played singles at a high level across the board from start to finish," Bucknell head coach Bruce Myers said. "It was a solid end to the regular season, and I hope we can take this level of play and momentum into the conference tournament."

The Bison picked up one win in doubles. Kane teamed with fellow senior Timber Erskine for an easy 6-0 triumph on court three.

Bucknell (6-21, 3-5 Patriot League) will open play in the conference tournament – hosted by Colgate – with a quarterfinal match on Friday.
