BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Junior J.P. Raftery earned his third straight All-Patriot League medal and junior Connor O'Brien and sophomore Peter Bradbeer did so for the first time, highlighting Bucknell’s weekend in a fifth-place team finish at the 2018 Patriot League Men’s Golf Championship at Saucon Valley CC.

Bradbeer shot 224 (69-81-74) over 54 holes to finish in a tie for sixth place. Raftery, who was the league runner-up in each of his first two seasons, finished ninth this time with a 227 (75-74-78). O’Brien (228, 75-77-76) was part of an eight-way tie for 10th place.

In cool, breezy conditions, the Bison compiled a 305 team total in Sunday’s final round, led by Bradbeer’s 2-over-par 74. Bucknell finished at 908 for the tournament, which was just one shot behind host Lehigh for fourth place.

Navy won the tournament with an 895 composite, holding off both arch-rival Army West Point and Loyola by just three strokes in a competition that came right down to the wire. Lafayette finished sixth at 917, followed by Colgate (919) and Holy Cross (944).

Navy also had the individual champion in freshman Charlie Musto, who closed with a 70 to finish at 2-under for the championship. Loyola’s Ethan Wall finished in second place, six strokes behind Musto.

Bucknell began the third round on the 10th hole, and Bradbeer immediately birdied the par-5 10th to get off to a good start. After a stretch of five bogeys in six holes, he played the next seven in 3-under and ended up with a 1-under 35 on the course’s front nine.

Raftery eagled the par-5 15th hole and later added a birdie at the par-3 fifth hole before settling for a 78. O’Brien finished up with a 76, making three birdies along the way, including back-to-back at holes 4 and 5. Freshman Chris Tanabe posted a 77, his best score of the weekend. The Bison tossed out an 80 from Ashton Radvansky and an 83 from Jubal Early.
