Last weekend at Saucon Valley Country Club, Raftery finished in ninth place at the Patriot League Championship, giving him a third top-10 finish in as many career appearances at the conference tournament. Raftery shot 75-74-78 last week to cap off another terrific season in which he led the team with a 74.6 stroke average.
Raftery, who was runner-up at both the 2016 and 2017 Patriot League Championships, has now played his nine career PL Championship rounds in 3-over par. During the 2017-18 fall and spring seasons, he logged three top-10 finishes and had four sub-par rounds, with a low of 67 (-3) at the Bucknell Invitational.
In the classroom, Raftery is an accounting and financial management major with a 3.48 cumulative grade-point average.
O’Brien finished in a tie for 10th place at the Patriot League Championship to join Raftery and sophomore Peter Bradbeer on the All-PL Team. O’Brien shot 75-74-78 in tough scoring conditions and finished the year ranked second on the team with a 75.4 average.
O’Brien, who played in all 11 of the team’s tournaments this year, turned in four scores of even par or better and had four top-10 finishes, including three straight with a 72.2 average to close out the fall season.
Away from the course, O’Brien carries a 3.65 GPA in accounting and financial management. O’Brien and Raftery were joined on the five-man Academic All-Patriot League Team by Army’s Nick Turner, Lehigh’s Owen Quinn, Loyola’s Ethan Wall.
