LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell’s Christine Bendzinski and Colleen Buckley were voted to the Academic All-Patriot League Team in women’s track and field, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday. Both runners earned multiple All-Patriot League honors at the Outdoor Championships this past weekend.

Bendzinski, a four-time Scholar-Athlete of the Year in the conference over the cross country and track and field seasons combined, earned the eighth Academic All-Patriot League honor of her career. A major in cell biology and biochemistry with a 3.83 GPA, the senior is also a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree and has had a multitude of semesters on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and the Dean’s List.

In competition, Bendzinski has established herself as one of the best student-athletes in school history. Including a title in the 1,500-meter run and a runner-up finish in the 5,000-meter run last weekend, she is a 22-time All-Patriot League performer, a two-time Patriot League cross country champion and national qualifier, and a six-time individual champion in track and field. Additionally, she has been a part of four 4x800 league titles. Bendzinski was recently given the Christy Mathewson Award, presented to the top athlete in the Bucknell senior class.

Buckley has joined Bendzinski as the leading forces in Bucknell’s dominance in the Patriot League over the past three years. She won both the 5k and 10k at this year’s Patriot League Outdoor Championships, adding to the 3k and 5k titles she won while earning Track Athlete of the Meet at this year’s Indoor Championships. In all between cross country and track and field, Buckley has picked up nine All-Patriot League accolades and is a five-time individual champion.

Buckley, an animal behavior major with a 3.60 GPA, is now a four-time Academic All-Patriot League selection. She is a consistent member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and Bucknell’s Dean’s List.

Together, Bendzinski and Buckley have led Bucknell to three straight Patriot League titles in cross country and four of the last five titles in track and field.
