LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Bucknell's Dominic Toso was named to the Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-America Team on Wednesday. Toso, who was selected as a designated hitter, was also a Second Team All-Patriot League selection this spring.
The Philadelphia native was one of three freshmen to earn All-Patriot League honors this year, and he did so after hitting .284 with a team-best .459 slugging percentage. Toso ranked fourth in the Patriot League in doubles with 15, and his slugging percentage was sixth-best in the league. He also paced the squad with four triples and 32 runs scored.
Toso played in 44 of the team's 45 games this season, batting in the leadoff spot for much of the year before sliding down to the cleanup spot over the final 18 games. While he spent most of the season in the DH role, Toso also saw some action and second base and third base, and he started the final eight games of the season in the outfield.
Toso is currently playing summer ball for the Peninsula Pilots of the Coastal Plain League. He homered in his first game with the Pilots and has four hits and five RBIs in his first four games with the club.
