In August 2013 Chad Mason joined the Bucknell staff as associate director of athletics for operations and events. Over the previous 15 years Mason worked his way up the ranks at Southern New Hampshire University, where he had served as associate AD since 2009 prior to joining the Bucknell staff.
Mason is a 1998 graduate of Southern New Hampshire and he also earned his MBA there in 2000 while serving as a graduate assistant for equipment and events. In 2000, Mason was hired full-time as an equipment and operations manager, and he was later promoted to assistant AD in 2004 and to associate AD in 2009.
At Bucknell, Mason is charged with supervising the scheduling, maintenance and operations of each of the University’s athletics facilities. He also administers gameday operations, management and promotional activities for all Bison varsity sporting events.
During his tenure at Southern New Hampshire, Mason has had a hand in nearly all operations and planning for a 16-sport, Division II program that competes in the Northeast-10 Conference. He managed SNHU’s athletics complex and facilities while overseeing the operations and equipment staff. He coordinated external operations for the department, including facility scheduling and booking, as well as purchasing. Mason also had NCAA compliance duties in the department.
As equipment/events manager, Mason’s many responsibilities included the preparation, supervision and post-event maintenance of all functions within the athletic complex. He handled the selection and ordering of team apparel and equipment on a yearly basis, and he oversaw the hiring, training and development of 75 student employees.
Mason is a native of Hamilton, New York, and a graduate of Hamilton Central School. He is a past president of the SNHU Alumni Association and was presented the association’s Young Alumni Award in 2000. Mason also authored and instructed a course on facilities management within SNHU’s acclaimed sport management department.
Mason and his wife Jennifer have two sons, Brady and Teagan.
