Women's Basketball Coaching Staff
Brittany Pinkney is set to begin her first season as an assistant coach on the Bucknell women's basketball team. Pinkney, who spent the past four seasons as an assistant at Mount St. Mary's, was the director of operations for the Bison in head coach Aaron Roussell's first season in Lewisburg in 2012-13.
"We are incredibly excited to welcome Brittany back to Bucknell,” Roussell said. “She helped to build this program during our first season here and still has a tremendous amount of respect from everyone on campus and our staff."
During Pinkney's time at Mount St. Mary's, the Mountaineers racked up 48 wins, including 36 in league play. The team had three All-NEC selections during those four seasons, including two that were recruited by Pinkney. Two players reached 1,000 career points.
Pinkney's first season with The Mount resulted in a 19-14 record and the team's first ever appearance in the WNIT. The Mountaineers went 13-5 in the Northeast Conference that season. They would add another winning season in league play with a 10-8 record in 2016-17.
Prior to joining Roussell's staff at Bucknell in 2012-13, Pinkney began her coaching career as a graduate assistant at Division III Salisbury. The Seagulls had a six-win improvement in her second season with the team, including a five-win turnaround in league play. Pinkney recruited Anna Hackett, who went on to earn three First Team All-CAC honors and was named a WBCA All-America Honorable Mention.
Pinkney was a four-year member of the VCU women's basketball team (2004-08) and served as a team captain her senior season. Roussell's wife, Molly, was a director of basketball operations for the Rams during that time. Following graduation, Pinkney went on to play professionally in the Extraliga League Women's Basketball in Roznava, Slovakia from 2008-10.
Pinkney earned a bachelor's degree in recreational parks and sport management from VCU in 2008. She added a master's in education at Salisbury in 2012.
"I have hoped for a long time that Brittany would at some point come back to join us as an assistant and I feel very fortunate that she has agreed to return,” Roussell said. “Her experience, coaching expertise, and how she relates to student-athletes will be huge assets for our program."
