LOS ANGELES – Bucknell's Will Sands was named a 2017 Jewish Sports Review Men's College Lacrosse First Team All-American, the organization announced this week.
In 2017, Sands was tabbed as a unanimous All-Patriot League First Team selection after finishing second in the league with 62 points (20g-42a) in 13 games. One of only two Patriot League players to average more than 3.50 points per game, he ranked ninth in the Division I ranks with a 4.77 average.
Sands was also among the NCAA leaders in assists, placing third with an average of 3.23 per contest. His season assist total stands second in Bison history, just six shy of David Dickson's record.
One of 50 college players named to the 2017 Tewaaraton Award Watch List, Sands was also a 2017 Inside Lacrosse Honorable Mention Preseason All-American. In 2016, he was voted to the 2016 All-Patriot League Second Team after posting 64 points (36g-28a) in 15 contests.
Sands enters his senior campaign with 168 points (82g-86a), good for seventh in program history. Sands, who surpassed 40 points each of the past three seasons, needs 16 to move into Bucknell's top five and 32 to become the third Bison to reach the 200-career point plateau.
