BALTIMORE, Md. – Jeff Hagen netted six goals and Rade Joksimovic posted four goals and two assists to lift the No. 17 Bucknell men's water polo team to a 16-11 victory over Johns Hopkins in the MAWPC opener for both teams Saturday afternoon at Newton White Athletic Center.
In net, Charlie Niehaus tied his season-best total with 16 saves.
Bucknell took control of the game early, outscoring Johns Hopkins, 4-2, in the first quarter. Later, the Bison used a 5-1 third quarter to open up a commanding 15-7 lead. During that frame, Hagen and Djordjevic each notched a pair of goals.
The Blue Jays rallied in the fourth quarter, closing out the game on a 4-0 run to narrow the gap to five.
With the win, Bucknell improves to 5-6 (1-0 MAWPC). The Bison compete at No. 18 George Washington in their second MAWPC game of the season tonight at 8 p.m.
