LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell women’s cross country added two more weekly awards to its already impressive total this season, sweeping the accolades on Monday. Senior Christine Bendzinski was tabbed as the M-F Athletic Female Runner of the Week, while freshman Ashley Blair was named the M-F Athletic Female Rookie of the Week.

Bendzinski finished ninth out of 98 runners at the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational, which included runners from No. 29 Yale, as well as two teams receiving votes in the national poll (Virginia and SMU). She crossed the line in 17:47 in the 5k race. Six of the eight runners in front of her were from the three teams receiving votes in the national poll.

Bendzinski has won the Patriot League Runner of the Week honor following all three of Bucknell’s races this season and has won four straight on weeks the Bison compete dating back to last season.

Blair finished 47th at the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational. She earned Rookie of the Week recognition for the first time.

With three races under its belt, Bucknell has won three Runner of the Week awards, all by Bendzinski, and has added two Rookie of the Week honors. Tiara Tardy was named the league’s top rookie following the opening week of the season.

The Bison will compete at the Dickinson Long/Short Invitational in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, Sept. 30.
