BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Freshman Raeanne Geffert gave up just one run, but Lehigh’s Emily Sorem pitched a complete-game shutout in a 1-0 win by the Mountain Hawks on Sunday in the finale of a three-game Patriot League softball series at Leadership Park.
Geffert allowed the one run on seven hits. She struck out five and didn’t walk a batter. Sorem gave up two hits, walked two, and struck out six to help the Mountain Hawks improve to 18-5 overall and 8-1 in league play.
The lone run of the game was scored in the bottom of the first inning when Ashley Cole crossed the plate on an RBI double by Vicky Lattanzio.
Despite just two hits, Bucknell was able to get baserunners in five of seven innings. The Bison stranded seven runners, including five in scoring position.
Paulina Gutkin doubled, and Anna Gimmestad had a single for Bucknell, which dropped to 21-8 overall and 6-3 in the Patriot League. Carolyn Wan, who led the team in walks last season and currently leads the team again this season, added two to her total.
Bucknell will take a break from Patriot League play as it hosts Saint Francis for a doubleheader on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
