LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell softball lost at home for the first time this season, dropping both games of a non-conference doubleheader to Saint Francis on Tuesday at Becker Field. The Red Flash won game one 3-2 in eight innings and then took game two by a 7-2 score.

Saint Francis improved to 31-9 with wins in 19 of its past 20 games. The lone loss was in extra innings to Pitt. Bucknell falls to 21-10.

Two of the Bison's last five losses have come in extra innings. Three of the losses have come by just one run.

Bucknell continues its stretch of six straight non-conference games when it travels to Robert Morris for a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m.

Game 1 – Saint Francis 3, Bucknell 2 (8 innings)
Madison Cabell drove in the go-ahead run with two outs in the top eighth inning to give Saint Francis a 3-2 win in the opening game.

With the international tiebreaker rule in place, Cheyenne McKee started the inning on second base. Bucknell starting pitcher Raeanne Geffert retired the first two batters of the inning, but Cabell's double to center field gave the Red Flash a one-run lead.

Ryanne Rokos was placed on second base to start the bottom of the eighth for Bucknell. She moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Carolyn Wan, but was thrown out at home on a groundball to shortstop the following play. Abby Trahan finished off a complete-game performance in the circle with a fly out.

Saint Francis scored two runs, one of which was earned in the top of the third inning, but Bucknell responded with a run in the bottom half of the inning to cut the deficit in half. Christina Martinez scored the run from third when the Red Flash chose to throw out a runner attempting to steal second.

The Bison tied the game in the sixth inning when Anna Gimmestad scored on a sacrifice fly by Paulina Gutkin.

Geffert turned in another solid pitching performance, giving up one earned run on seven hits and one walk in eight innings of work. She struck out five batters.

Trahan allowed two runs, one earned, on six hits in eight innings. She struck out three and didn't walk a batter.

Wan, Gimmestad, Lauren Hadley, Meghan Kovac, Martinez, and Rokos all singled for the Bison.

Game 2 – Saint Francis 7, Bucknell 2
Saint Francis scored seven unearned runs with two outs in the second inning on its way to a 7-2 win in the second game.

A two-out throwing error allowed two runs to score and kept the Red Flash inning alive in the second. They went on to add five more runs on four hits.

Lauren Lichtenwalner was a bright spot for the Bison. The freshman pitched 5.1 innings of scoreless relief, giving up seven hits. She struck out one and didn't walk a batter.

Hadley had a triple, her second of the season, and Gimmestad had a double, her 10th of the season, for the Bison. Gutkin singled twice, while Kovac and Rokos added one single apiece.
