LORTON, Va. -- For the second straight week, the Bison men's golf team showed drastic improvement in the second round of a grueling 36-hole day. Last week at the Cornell Invitational, Bucknell posted rounds of 315-287 on the opening day of the tournament, moving up from 11th place to sixth. On Sunday at George Mason's Patriot Invitational, the Bison followed up a first-round 307 with an unofficial 291 in the afternoon, moving them up four spots to 15th place.

Several players were still on the course when play was halted due to darkness. Bucknell had one player unable to complete his second round. Ashton Radvansky still has one hole to play -- the par-5 ninth -- and he can improve Bucknell's team score by one shot if he manages to make an eagle.

J.P. Raftery has completed 36 holes and is the low Bison at 2-over-par 144. Raftery opened with a 74, then came back with a 1-under 70 in a near-flawless round two. Raftery made 15 pars, two birdies and just a single bogey coming at the par-3 14th. Raftery birdied the next par-3 (No. 16), then finished with 10 straight pars to post 70.

Raftery was not the only Bison in red numbers in the afternoon. Freshman Peter Bradbeer, playing in the starting lineup for the first time in his young career, also carded a 1-under 70 after opening with an 80. Bradbeer offset three bogeys with four birdies. He played one nine-hole stretch in 4-under.

Connor O'Brien followed up an opening-round 75 with a second-round 73. He had a colorful second-round scorecard, with six bogeys, four birdies and eight pars.

Bucknell used Radvansky's first-round 78. He is at +8 through 17 holes in round two. Jubal Early opened with an 81 before coming back with a 78.

Eastern Kentucky is 5-under as a team and has a five-shot lead over Old Dominion. Third-place Longwood is well back at +15. Bucknell sits in 15th place at +30 but is only six shots out of eighth place.

Eastern Kentucky's Erik Lindwall and Old Dominion's Michael Bakker share the individual lead at 3-under. Bakker still has one hole remaining in his second round. Three players are at -2, followed by another five at -1. Raftery at 2-over is tied for 13th place.

The tournament concludes Monday at Laurel Hill Golf Club.
