LORTON, Va. -- Sophomore J.P. Raftery continued his torrid start to the 2016-17 season, firing an even-par 71 Monday in the final round of the Patriot Intercollegiate to secure his third top-10 finish in as many tries this fall. Raftery tied for ninth individually with a 2-over-par 215 total. Bucknell finished in a tie for 16th in the team standings after closing with a 304.

Raftery's day was highlighted by an eagle at the par-5 fifth hole. He also made three birdies and five bogeys to finish at even par. Raftery posted rounds of 74-70 on Sunday. His T-9th finish follows a T-5th at the Colgate Invitational and a T-4th at the Bucknell Invitational earlier in the fall. This week's performance leaves him with a team-best scoring average of 72.0 in eight rounds.

Eastern Kentucky's Erik Lindwall closed with his second straight 68, and he was the medalist with a 6-under 207. David Langley of Old Dominion also shot a final-round 68 and was runner-up at 4-under.

Freshman Peter Bradbeer followed up his 1-under 70 with a closing 74. Jubal Early carded a 76, but then Bison also had to count a score in the 80s as Ashton Radvansky shot 83 and Connor O'Brien had an uncharacteristic 84.

The Bison, who started four sophomores and a freshman this week, tied with La Salle and Binghamton in the team standings with a 902 total. It was a two-horse race for the championship, with Old Dominion outdistancing Eastern Kentucky by two strokes (849-851). The Monarchs finished with a 281 on Monday, compared to EKU's 288. Host George Mason was third at 870.

Bucknell is back in action next Sunday and Monday at the Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Binghamton at the Links at Hiawatha Landing.
