LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell’s Christine Bendzinski earned a second straight M-F Athlete Patriot League Female Runner of the Week honor Tuesday. She received the award after a solid showing against nationally-ranked competition at Penn State’s Spiked Shoe Invitational on Friday.
Bendzinski finished seventh out of 82 runners at the highly competitive Spiked Shoe Invitational, posting a time of 21:34 on the 6k course. Four of the six runners that placed higher than her were from two nationally-ranked teams – No. 11 Penn State and No. 26 Georgetown. Syracuse and West Virginia, both of which are receiving votes in the national poll, were also at the event.
Bendzinski has won three consecutive Patriot League Female Runner of the Week Awards dating back to the final week of the 2016 regular season. She opened this year by winning the Bison Open.
The Bison will get a break from competition with no events this coming weekend. They will run at the Panorama Farms Invitational in Earlysville, Virginia, on Saturday, Sept. 23.
