LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Patriot League Tournament MVP Kendall Ham earned another honor on Monday when she was named the Bison Athlete of the Week. Ham scored three goals in the first 21:05 of play in Bucknell's 3-2 victory over top-seeded Navy on Sunday in the Patriot League Tournament championship. The thrilling win sent the Bison to their second straight conference title and fourth NCAA Tournament appearance.
Ham scored just 1:28 into the match on a header from an Ali Russo service from the right end line. Ten minutes later she scored again with a left-footed rip from the top of the 18, and just 10 minutes after that she gave Bucknell a stunning 3-0 lead with another header, this time off a Karli Cirovski corner kick.
It was Ham's second career hat trick and the fourth three-goal game ever recorded in a Patriot League Tournament game. Ham upped her career goal total to 41, which is now the second-highest figure in school history, trailing only Hall-of-Famer Lisa Gibbons with 66. That is also the seventh-highest total among all active Division I players.
Ham will enter the NCAA Tournament on quite a roll. She has 12 goals on the season, all coming in the team's last 11 games.
Bucknell is now 12-8 overall. The team will learn its NCAA Tournament destination at 4:30 p.m. today.
