EARLYSVILLE, Va. – Senior Will Bordash took 16th individually to lead the shorthanded Bucknell men’s cross country team to a seventh-place finish out of 10 teams at the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational on Saturday morning.
Bucknell finished with 165 points, just eight behind sixth-place Clemson. The Bison beat Northeastern, Hampton, and Loyola (Md.). No. 15 Virginia won the race with 55 points, while Campbell (59) and Charlotte (81) rounded out the top three.
Bordash completed the 8k course in 25:05, posting Bucknell’s best time for the third consecutive race to open the season. Junior Chad Sussman joined him in the top 30, taking 27th with a time of 25:26.
“Considering our men were not at full strength, I thought we did an admirable job,” Bucknell head coach Kevin Donner said. “Will moved up the entire race, and Chad may have run the best race of his career. Connor is starting to run to his capabilities, as well.”
Campbell took the top two spots in the 90-runner field. Amon Kemboi won the race in 23:31.5, finishing just ahead of teammate Lawrence Kipkoech (23:31.9).
The Bison will compete at the Dickinson Long/Short Invitational in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, Sept. 30.
“If some of our guys who are injured or sick can come back strong, we will have a very good team,” Donner said. “We just have to continue being patient.”
