WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Bucknell men’s tennis traveled to compete at the Purdue Fall Invitational on Friday and was led by a 2-0 record from the doubles team of Max Kane and Timber Erskine. The duo advanced to the semifinals in Flight B, where they will resume play on Saturday.
Kane and Erskine opened doubles play with a 6-3 win over Chicago State’s Rohan Wattley and Cody Wurzelbacher. They followed that with a hard-fought 7-5 victory over Bernardo Neves and Radha Vishnubhotla from Washington University in St. Louis. Neves and Vishnubhotla were Second Team All-UAA last season.
Up next for Kane and Erskine is a team from Butler, Mason Dragos and Ari Gerstein. Dragos made the NCAA Championships in doubles last season.
Bucknell sent its four seniors to the highly-competitive tournament. In Flight A doubles, Daniel Wright and Ben Gerber went 1-1. They opened with a win over a team from Illinois State before falling to a team from Cleveland State.
