LEWISBURG, Pa. – Sophomore Blake Buchholz finished with 12 kills and nine digs, and freshmen Bridgette Holland and Mimi Richards combined for 15 kills on 29 attacks to lead the Bucknell volleyball team to a 3-0 win over visiting Lafayette on Saturday at Davis Gym. The Bison improved to 3-13 overall and 1-3 in the Patriot League, winning by scores of 25-16, 25-23, 25-16.

Bucknell recorded a .255 hitting percentage, and the two freshmen middle blockers were the most efficient players on the court. Holland tallied eight kills, no errors and a .533 hitting percentage, while Richards hit .419 with seven kills and just one error. Richards added three block assists.

Holland is now hitting .271 on the season. Over the past two matches, she has 23 kills, just one error and a .489 hitting percentage. She has six matches with double-digit kills this season and hit over .300 in five of them.

Lafayette had a good chance to tie the match as it took a 23-22 lead in the second set, but Bucknell scored the final three points to go up 2-0. Buchholz recorded back-to-back kills, and a Leopards’ attack error clinched the set for the Bison.

Freshman Sophie Bullard led Bucknell in digs with 11 and in aces with two. Freshman Brooke Stark was right behind her in digs with 10, while junior Luz Nagle led the team with 20 assists. They helped the Bison win their sixth straight match in the series with Lafayette.

Bucknell held Lafayette to a .050 hitting percentage. Katherine Stevens finished with a team-high eight kills.

The Bison will play a Patriot League match at Loyola (Md.) on Saturday, Oct. 8. The following six matches, all against league opponents, will be played at Davis Gym.
