LEWINBURG, Pa. – Bridgette Holland capped a terrific statistical weekend with 14 kills and a .500 hitting percentage, but Bucknell couldn’t complete the perfect weekend with a 3-1 loss at Lafayette in a Patriot League volleyball match Saturday.

The Bison were coming off a huge win at home over Lehigh on Friday, and won the first set 25-21 against Lafayette. The Leopards won the next three 25-23, 25-16. 25-19 to improve to 4-18 overall and 2-10 in the conference. The Bison fell to 5-19 overall and 3-9 in the league.

“It was a tough match tonight,” said Bucknell head coach Anna Allison. “Our league has a tough schedule playing two matches in less than 24 hours. It gets even tougher when your opponent has a single-match weekend. However, we weren’t mentally tough enough to sustain our level of play and made too many unforced errors. Lafayette played a very good match.”

In addition to her 14 kills, Holland had two block assists. Over the past two matches, she has 22 kills with a .458 hitting percentage and 10 total blocks. The rookie leads the team in both kills with 203 and total blocks with 70.

Senior Jordan Walker also had a solid match for the second consecutive night, tallying a double-double of 15 kills and 11 digs. She had eight kills and four block assists in the win over Lehigh. Joining Holland and Walker with double-digits kills was freshman Sophie Bullard with 12. Senior Kristen Parks registered a team-high 20 digs.

Katie Rethmeyer was the top player for Lafayette, recording 10 kills on .588 hitting. Tori Smith finished with 12 kills, and Maria Balus had 45 assists.

Up next for the Bison is a match at Colgate on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Raiders are 14-9 overall and 10-2 in the league with a seven-match winning streak.
