LEWISBURG, Pa. – Freshman Bridgette Holland put together an eye-popping stat line in Bucknell volleyball’s two matches this weekend, and on Tuesday she was rewarded by the conference office by being named the Rookie of the Week.

Holland helped the Bison defeat Lehigh for the first time since 2012 and end a seven-match losing streak to the Mountain Hawks, tallying 14 kills and eight blocks. The freshman then recorded another 14 kills and hit .500 in a four-set loss to Lafayette. For the week, Holland finished with 28 kills (3.5 k/s) on six errors in 48 attempts to hit .458 and totaled 10 blocks.

Holland has won two Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors this season. Mimi Richards has won one to give the Bison three awards on the year. That is the program’s most in one season since it won three, all by Jenna Henderson, in 2004.

Bucknell is back in action tonight with a 7 p.m. match at Colgate. The Bison will host Loyola for the final home match of the season on Friday at 7 p.m.
